Es Figueral de Son Real is one of the most important archaeological sites on the Son Real Public Estate and one of the major excavated settlements from this period in Mallorca.
Located near the Artà-Alcúdia road, the archaeological site preserves remains of an ancient prehistoric settlement with naviform structures typical of the Bronze Age, as well as later adaptations associated with the beginnings of the Talayotic culture during the first millennium BCE.
The site was greatly affected by the construction of the Son Real estate houses and also by the road, as blocks from the ancient prehistoric structures appear to have been reused in later buildings.
The settlement’s current layout is the result of the transformations and adaptations it underwent during the early stages of the Talayotic culture. Es Figueral provides a better understanding of the evolution of Son Real’s prehistoric communities and the long history of human occupation in this area.
