Can Verga Vell

This building was constructed by order of Joan March Estelrich, father of Joan March Ordines (one of the wealthiest individuals in Santa Margalida during the first quarter of the 20th century). The design of the mansion is thought to have been inspired by the palace of the Count of Santa Maria de Formiguera—demolished shortly before (in 1922)—reflecting a clear intent: the new owners wished to emulate the lifestyle of the old aristocracy. As with the former palace, access is gained via a staircase and a terrace leading to a semicircular arched doorway.
