Hort den Degollat

The birthplace, in 1897, of the orientalist Joan Mascaró i Fornés. The architectural interest of this site lies in the presence of three small mine springs or qanats of Islamic origin, which channel their waters into the same reservoir. Particularly noteworthy is the one that emerges inside a barrel-vaulted chamber beneath the houses. The water flows through the mouth of a small sculpted mask into a basin that appears to imitate a type of urn. In the centre, there is a sunken area carved into the stone itself, with seats on both sides. This site forms part of the landscaped surroundings, conceived as a recreational area for the owners of the estate.
