Molins

The windmills are part of Santa Margalida’s ethnological heritage and bear witness to the municipality’s historical relationship with the agricultural landscape, the use of natural resources, and traditional ways of life. These structures—linked primarily to the use of wind power—recall the importance that agricultural activities held for the local economy and daily life.

Around Can Picafort and throughout the municipality, several examples have been preserved that help us understand how the rural landscape has evolved over time. The mills, with their characteristic silhouettes, form part of the visual heritage of the Pla de Mallorca and help interpret a landscape shaped by farmland, paths, traditional estates and rural trades.

Today, these heritage features are an interesting stop for visitors wishing to discover Santa Margalida beyond its coastline. Their presence tells the story of an agricultural, hardworking Mallorca deeply rooted in the land, while adding cultural value to the routes and walks connecting Can Picafort, Son Serra de Marina and the historic centre of Santa Margalida.
