Santa Margalida Church Viewpoint

The esplanade where the church stands forms one of the town's most attractive spaces, offering views of the vast cultivated plains surrounding the town of Santa Margalida.

The wall supporting it, known as “l’Esquena d’à,” is documented as far back as the 17th century. This wall—with its fortress-like appearance—and the silhouette of the church create one of the most distinctive profiles of La Vila. Since 1998, the site has been presided over by a bust of Joan Mascaró i Fornés, a distinguished son of Santa Margalida; his gaze is directed toward the mystic and philologist’s birthplace, “s’Hort d’en Degollat.”
