Archaeological sites

The municipality of Santa Margalida is one of the areas in Mallorca with the highest density of archaeological remains.

In the area around Can Picafort, Son Real, and Son Bauló, there are preserved necropolises, dolmens, caves, *talaiots* (megalithic towers), settlements, and sanctuaries that bear witness to human presence in this territory for thousands of years.

This heritage makes the municipality an exceptional place to discover prehistoric Mallorca within a unique setting—a landscape where history coexists with the sea, sand dunes, pine forests, and agricultural land.

From the well-known Necropolis of Son Real to the dolmen or the *talaiot* at Sa Cova sa Nineta, each archaeological site offers insight into how the island’s ancient communities lived, built, buried their dead, and interacted with the land.
